Greetings, my name is Samuel Arroyo and I am the pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Hightstown, New Jersey. All donations are tax deductible since this is done through the United Methodist Church of Hightstown, an organization under the 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue.
For the past two years I have been helping a family that are way under the poverty line here in NJ. I bring hot meals to their home every week and from our food pantry.
Patricia Calhoun is terminally ill with a rare autoimmune disease (Stiff Person syndrome) that is very slowly shutting down her body. Patricia has two daughters, one 12 the other 13. The grandma lives with them and she has cancer.
This past week their landlord towed their car and is evicting them from their home. If we don’t find a place for them to live, social services will take the girls from them. Needless to say, that would devastate the mom and grandma. The girls are scared as you can imagine. I can’t post their names nor photos to protect their privacy. Many of my friends know who they are. We want to help this family stay together. The girls like their school very much and they have a good support system from the staff. The people from RISE and the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen in Hightstown love these girls and we want to do as much as possible to help them. This is a big TASK, but with the help of our community and with people who are moved by compassion even when they don’t know them, we know that WE CAN DO THIS!
I need you to pray with me. Pray that we can find a place that they can afford.
I need for you to help. Please consider donating some money so we can help them. I am shooting for $10,000 to help them get situated in a new place and for them to be able to pay at least the first 6 months of rent and security deposit.
Any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated.
