Mission Activities

Dedication to mission and outreach activities has always been central to our faith. Across our 150-year history, we have supported missionaries in Africa, China, Korea, Venezuela, Iran, Tibet, Brazil, Chile and Thailand. Our overseas relief efforts have also included participating in Great Hour of Sharing since 1953, sending blankets through Church World Service since 1968 and racking up the miles in the Crop Walk since 1974.

Our mission activities have also extended to worthy causes here at home in the United States, including working with programs such as Habitat for Humanities, Campus Ministry, and Compassionate Friends. Our Senior High Youth Group has continued this tradition through their Mission Trip over the last several years, giving tirelessly of their time and spirit in such areas as Alaska, Mexico, Ohio, and North Carolina. This summer, our Senior High Youth Group plans to head to Maine to lend their helping hands.

Our commitment to service has extended down to a local level as well, continuing to support the Better Beginnings School and Day Care which we helped to found in 1974, through the Stop Gap Fund, and through ongoing support to numerous local programs, including the Interfaith Hospitality Network and the Hightstown Community Action Service Center.

Our strength as a church has always been grounded in our unwavering desire to serve God and his Kingdom here on Earth.

MissionMorsels

Presbyterian Church of Trenton runs a Saturday morning breakfast service for the people of downtown Trenton at the low price of hearing a short homily delivered by an inspired seminary student (or even an FPCH church member). Several different churches and organizations provide food and servers for a cold meal on the typical morning. On the second Saturday of the month, though, a hot breakfast of French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage links, home fries, juice and coffee is served. FPCH has assumed responsibility for providing the people power to cook and serve the breakfast, as well as some funds to provide supplies. The grateful and polite response from the folks in the breakfast line is heartwarming. Are you available for two or three hours on Saturday morning?
